Want to boost your SEO?

Page Rank is one thing you should definitely be looking at since it is one of the key factors that plays a role in where your web page will show up in the Google search engine results.

For example, if you’re a local coffee shop, when someone is searching through Google for “the best coffee shop near me," your Rank (along with over 200 other factors) will determine whether your website will show up on the first, second or maybe even the fifth search results page.

According to Google:

“PageRank works by counting the number and quality of links to a page to determine a rough estimate of how important the website is. The underlying assumption is that more important websites are likely to receive more links from other websites.”

Remember, Google’s job is to return the most relevant and quality results to it’s users.

Page Rank helps them do this by acting like a voting system, where your website gets "votes" in the form of other sites linking to your website.

The theory behind how it works is the web pages of most importance are the sites that have the most qualified, authoritative, and relevant links leading to them.

It measures each page of a website on a scale of zero to ten based on two main components:

  • The most links leading back to the web page
  • The number of links on the page that “casts” a vote for your web page

Whatever page has the most quality links leading back to that page basically has the higher Page Rank and the higher credibility and authority in Google’s eyes.

As a small business owner the main goal of having a website is to bring in new business, but if potential clients aren’t finding you through Google, it may be time to take a look at the Rank of each page of your website.

Another reason to take Rank into consideration is if you and your competitors' relevancy ranking are the same. Google will also factor in the Page Rank to decide who’s web page will show up on top. Increasing your Rank will help get your web pages to those potential new clients:

By increasing your Page Rank > Increase Google SEO > Increase Visitors > Increase Business.
